Lake Corpus Christi State Park

Lake Corpus Christi offers numerous kayak / canoe launch areas that lead to excellent freshwater fishing and remote natural habitats for native and migrating birds, and even reptile species. The Nueces River is accessible at numerous points south of the Wesley Seale Dam, on the southern edge of the lake, and is known for at least three state fishing record catches, as well as dozens of unique wildlife ecosystems. Lake Corpus Christi State Park has a birding center and a birding trail located on the bluffs above the lake.

La Fruta Park

La Fruta Park consists of 100 acres along the Nueces River shaded by Hackberry, Elm, Oak and Cypress trees. Named for the point of the community where fruits and vegetables were once shipped, especially a San Patricio County summertime favorite: watermelons, this park offers campsites, nature trails, a wildlife pond, BBQ and picnic areas, RV rental spaces, restrooms, a river boat launch, fishing pier, guided kayak tours and kayaks for rent.
Begin your paddling adventure here and experience a beautiful, serene river habitat and wildlife. A leisurely paddle down a 15-mile stretch will carry you along a gentle current to San Patricio de Hibernia Park then on to Chipita Rodriguez Park near the historic town of Old San Patricio.
Situated in a migratory flyway, all parks are great for bird watching. The dense brush and riparian habitat provides food, shelter and water for resident and migratory species including water-fowl, shorebirds, songbirds and birds of prey.
DIRECTIONS: From Corpus Christi, go North on IH-37. Exit at Mathis. Turn on Texas Hwy 359 toward Lake Corpus Christi. After 4 miles, turn left on CR 1092, then right on CR 1094.
